Panasonic DV problem

I am trying to use Movie MAker and nothing downloads. No Video at all.
Sometimes I get Audio. Are there any drivers or software available to
download movies or DV?

I have a Panasonic PV GS39.

Thanks
Tino

XP should come with all the drivers necessary to import video from most
camcorders. However, it is possible that yours requires a manufacturer
sourced driver (I am not familiar with the GS39). In general these need to
be installed *before* the camera is connected for the first time. Check if
there was an installation CD with the camera.

If there is, use device manager [windows key + Pause] to find the video
camera (it needs to be connected for it to appear). Right click on it and
uninstall. Close device manager, and unplug the camera. Then install your
driver from the CD (or Panasonic web site). Now reconnect your camcorder
and the driver should get installed.

I am also aware that some older Firewire chipset versions have had speed
problems when married to certain motherboard chipsets.

The problem is the wrong wire-in needed a ieee1394 USB.

That would be a IEEE1394 Firewire card and cable not USB. USB has known
issues with XP's Windows Movie Maker import. Firewire is definitely the way
to go.

----------------

There is no such thing. IEEE 1394 is a Firewire interface which is
different to USB. Firewire is the only way to import video from a DV
camcorder. There is too much latency on even a 480 Mbps USB interface to
reliably import video.
