When I try to open Paint, I get the following message

"Paint has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I have tried reinstalling from the control panel(add /remove programs), but that hasn't worked

Any suggestions

Hi,

This fix usually works:

Close any/all instances of MSPaint. Then start/run regedit, navigate to this
key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Applets\Paint

Hightlight (click on it) that key and delete it. Close the registry editor
and reopen Paint.

I tried Rick's fix and it worked! I thought my newly installed software for my Canon S410 Digital was the cause, but no. Rick, I owe you a cold beer my friend
Jefro.

I have a similar problem to. None of my programs will open. When I click
any program a message appears saying "Windows cannot access the specified
device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access
the item." Then I click "Ok" and another message appears saying "The item you
selected is unavailable. It might have been moved, renamed, or removed. Do
you want to remove this item from the list?" Why won't the programs run? How
do I fix it? Thank you for your time.
