"Paint cannot read this file"

S

Shemp McGurk

I made many files on the Paint program that comes loaded with
Microsoft-loaded computers PRE-Windows XP.

Now I am trying to open them with my new computer with Windows XP and
what I thought was the same Paint program that came with the new
computer (well, anyway, it LOOKS the same!).

I get the message "Rates.max. Paint cannot read this file. This is
not a valid bitmap file, or its format is not currently supported."

I really want to get to this file! Any suggestions how I can do it?

".max" is not a supported Paint file? The only programs that I can find for
this file type are paperport scanning software and some Scansoft products.

There is a free Windows viewer available for this file type here:

ScanSoft - PaperPort - Viewers:

Kool. Thanks for the tip, Ronnie. I have PaperPort, but now friends can
view my images.
