Paging File

J

Jeff Cobelli

I recently purchased and installed a new hard drive on my computer. I
wanted to install the OS on the new drive, and use the original drive for
files, etc. After installing Win2000 on the new drive, both drives showed
up in My Computer, but the original drive was listed as "C:\" and the new
drive was listed as "F:\". After double checking the jumpers, cables, and
BIOS, I found MSKB article 223188 - "How to change the system/boot drive
letter in Windows". After following the instructions in that article, I now
receive the following message at startup: "Your system has no paging file,
or the paging file is too small". It then gives instructions for adjusting
the size of the file, but when I click OK, it just cycles back around to the
same message box. I tried booting from a floppy and running fdisk /mbr, but
it didn't work. I am in BIG trouble here! Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

You'll want to change it back. The article is meant to correct a problem
back to original as-installed, not to arbitrarily change.
