Pages load slowly

I have Broadband (Roadrunner)that consistently speed
tests at apx 2.5M download/s and 384 upload K/s. Lately
it is faster than that, but when browsing, I find that
most sites pages load slowly sometimes taking several
seconds. I was wondering how can I tweak or optimize IE
6.0 to load pages faster?
If you need more info I can provide it.

Did you check for parasites that may be calling home.
