a win xp pro machine with 512mb ram and 40gb internal hdd and a usb2
external 120gb hdd. using virtual memory dialog box I set internal hdd and
external hdd each with values. after reboot the box shows both drives as
setup but total page file size as just what is on internal hdd[ min set]. a
pagefile.sys file is on internal hdd but not external hdd. second the
defrag analysis report shows the page file on internal hdd as set and ext.
hdd as zero. how do you get a page file to be on both drives???????

Really the best way is to set to,let windows manage. Also, after you type i
custom,or let windows manage you have to click set 2X for it to register, onc
youre thru you have to be prompted to restart the computer,no prompt, then reset
To actually see the adjustments after restart, open task mgr, performance, take not
of virtual memory before and after.

you cannot put a page file on an external (ie removable) drive

You may be thinking that you need a page file on each drive - you don't.
In general it is best left on C:, unless there is a separate *interna;l*
physical disk, in which case there is benefit in principle in putting
it there (but leaving a small notional amount on C)
