Pagefile error

I can't log on to the PC (running Win 2000) because it
reports that there is no page file or the pagefile is too
small. How can I fix this if I can't log on using any
username even in Safemode?

Get a Windows 98 boot-up disk (from www.bootdisks.com),
boot from the floppy and then type fdisk /mbr This will
rebuild you Master Boot Record. Works every time.

What does that have to do with the NT pagefile? Don't do that you'll
end up screwing your Windows 2000!

You have to let Windows 2000 recreate the pagefile.

Ya, tried that link already, thanks, but it doesn't seem
to work. You have to copy a file over to the pagefile.sys
to make it visible, then delete the pagefile.sys. Still no
joy though. Where can the pagefile.sys be stored? I've
tried just c: and c:\winnt and even c:\winnt\system32.
Where else could it be stored?

By jove, it worked!!! Fair play to ya! I must admit, I had
my doubts, but I was on the verge of reinstalling Win2k
having tried everything else. Good man, I can go home and
eat now, as it's 20 to 8 here in Ireland.

You should be able to find it if you search for it. Enable "View Hidden
& System files..."

The only reason I know this works is that when I ghosted
my 80 GB drive to a 120GB drive, I ran into the same
problem. I posted my problem in the Windrivers.com tech
support forums, and this was the answer I got from them.

Ghost2000 Gdisk /(switches), warns that if other software
such as (Ontrack's Disk Manager or OS/2's Boot Manager)
writes to the MBR there may be trouble...
