Page X of Y

In versions of Word previous to 2007 there was a toolbar in Headers and
Footers that allowed you to click on Page X of Y to create that paging format
in Word. I've been looking in Word 2007 but can't seem to find that. I
haven't even seen a command that allows you to to type in Page X of Y where
the X and Y values are automatically calculated by Word. Please clue me in
where this is located in Word 2007. Thanks!

Instead of choosing one of the Header or Footer commands, select the Page
Number command. You can then choose Top of Page or Bottom of Page, and
within that gallery there is a selection of Page X of Y.

Since the numbers are bolded, you can format the numbers for not bold, and
then save the selection as a New Building Block, which will enable you to
quickly re-use the format again at a later date.

Dawn,

Thanks for getting back to me. What's going on is when I should see the
page numbering gallery, it's grayed out. What's the fix for this?

I found out the answer is to delete the Building Blocks.docx file under
Documents and Settings. Reopen Word 2007 again and the gallery appears that
will allow you to see the Page X of Y option in Page Numbering.
