Page X of Y

Hi. I am using Word 2003 SP2.

I have a Word doc that has the Page X of Y autotext in the header. Each time
an edit is made to the doc and the doc is then printed, the page numbering is
incorrect --Y increases by one, but only on the hardcopy. (e.g., what should
be Page 2/4, Page 3/4, and Page 4/4 displays as Page 2/5, 3/5, 4/5.) The
strange part is that the numbering is correct on the screen.

Any ideas are much appreciated!

Thanks.

There is a bug in Word that is different in different versions (including
different SRs).
See http://www.addbalance.com/word/pagexofy.htm or
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/PageXofY.htm for information on Page
X of Y problems. You may also want to take a look at:

you may also want to look at

Hmm. Unfortunately my problem is different, and none of those refer
specifically to 2003. I did do the update, but that didn't solve it either.

The same number of pages print. The document is four pages. On the screen,
the page numbers show as Page 2 of 4, Page 3 of 4, and Page 4 of 4 (page one
doesn't have a page number). When it's printed, the second page says Page 2
of 5, the third page says Page 3 of 5, the fourth page says Page 4 of 5. It
does not print a blank fifth page. Only the pages with text, with the
incorrect number for Y.

I hope that makes sense.

Do you get the same result if you reverse the print order?

What do you mean by reverse the print order?

Okay, I found Reverse Print Order and it did work for me. I'm going to have
my user test it.

Thanks!
