Page Numbers across worksheets

Daryl G.

Does anyone know how to setup page numbers in the footer that will print
continuously across worksheets when you chose print entire workbook from
Excel 2000 or later? The closest I was able to come was to print the tab
name so that the pages came out as worksheet1 page1 Worksheet1 Page2,
Worksheet2 Page 1, Worksheet3, Page 1 Etc.

Thanks!

You just press the CTRL key and click the specified worksheets tab, then use
print preview (or print directly), you may find out the page number is
continously.

Hi Daryl,
I sure don't see your results. I see continuous page numbers
in Print Preview whether I
Print the Entire Workbook, or whether I
Select all Sheets in a Group.
and I have Excel 2000

Which of the following result you got and you want it?

1.) WS1: Page1, WS1: Page2, WS2: Page1, WS3: Page1 ...
2.) WS1: Page1, WS1: Page2, WS2: Page3, WS3: Page4 ...

If you hope no. 2, just press and hold the CONTROL key on your keyboard, and
use the mouse to click the specifed worksheet tab that you want to print. I
tested and no any problem.

I want to know how Daryl got the results he got by printing the
entire workbook, because as I said without grouping and choosing
"print entire workbook" I get the same results as by grouping all sheets.

Number 1) is what Daryl reported he got.

And I don't really want to that, I just want to know how Daryl got
what he says he got, if in fact he did.

Daryl,

Make sure all the sheets are selected, and in File - Page Setup make sure
that "First page number' is set to "auto," not 1.

I think that was the cause, Thanks. When I tried to print it from another PC
it worked as I wanted it to.

Actually,

I still need help. I printed the same document on two PCs. One one PC it
prints with continous page number, on the other, it continues to print,
resetting the page numbers on each worksheet.

I thought the Auto thing would fix it, but when I changed the first page
settig to Auto on the non working PC, it still prints with the resets.

Any new thoughts?

Thanks

Daryl
