page not displaying

On certain internet sites the page will not display
properly and a message appears saying "you need to
download java virtual machine to display this page
properly". I have no idea what this is or where to find
it. I have searched microsoft downloads but am faced with
written subject that is beyond me.
Any help in simple English would be much appreciated.

you can search the net for a site from sun microsystems
and they will have the jvm for ya
