Microsoft Java Virtual Machine

Help!!! Everytime I go to a page that has a java applet, I get an error message saying Internet explorer can not display the page because it doesn't have Microsoft Java Virtual Machine. It than gives me an option to download or canceled. If I click download, I'm forwarded to Microsoft's page that announces Microsoft JVM is not longer available. If I click cancel, I have a blank page with a empty space were the applet is suppose to be displayed.

I checked to see if I had Java Virtual Machine installed. I do. It's Sun's JVM in the control panel and it's suppose to be Internet Explorer's defaullt

I looked in Internet Explorer. It shows that Sun's java is enabled

How do I get rid of the message????
