package to cd

When I try to package my presentation to cd I get a message that says insert
a blank cd into drive E:. Files cannot be copied because the CD is not
writable. I'm using a new CD-RW which should be allowed.

What "should" happen often doesn't. It's recommended that you use Package to
Folder and then use your CD burning software to more the *contents* of the
folder to a blank CD.

Dear Mom,

Camp is great. It rained yesterday, so me and the guys sat around and ate
the cookies you sent.

Oops. I mean, try packaging to folder instead of packaging to CD. Then use
the CD burning software that came with your new CD-RW to write the contents
of the folder to the CD. You might need to do some extra stuff if you want
the CD to autorun. The problem is that PowerPoint probably doesn't recognize
your CD-RW drive because it can only recognize some of the drives, but your
software should be able to handle it nicely.

Please send more mail and several more packages of cookies. I mean, write
back if you have any more questions.

Why is it that when I first installed Powerpoint2003, I was able to package
my presentations to CD without a problem. I am using the same PC and
hardware and software (other than updates) and now it gives me the message
that my CD is not writable. What has changed? I would like to change it
back to its original form. Can this be done?

I don't know what has changed, but PowerPoint doesn't actually do the writing to
CD. That is done by Windows. So, something may have changed in Windows. You
might ask the question in on of the Windows newsgroups.
