P4C800-E Deluxe - RAID gone since BIOS 1016 update

I decided to flash the BIOS to the latest 1016 update and for some reason
now the Promise Raid array I had set up as my data drives have vanished from
windows.

I've checked all the setting in the BIOS and enabled the Promise Controller
etc. For some reason the MBFastTrak378 BIOS doesn't even appear to scan the
drives anymore.

I can't seem to find any info on this happening and how to fix it. Has
anyone experienced this problem and have any suggestions on what to do to
get it working again?

Thanks
Matt

I should just point out my drive system details in case that helps:

P4C800-E Deluxe
Main System Drive - WD Raptor 36G SATA (Working fine)
Data Drives - 2 x Maxtor 120G SATA Drives on Promise Controller in RAID 0
(not working since BIOS 1016 update)

Have you enabled Promise controller on the BIOS AND set it to RAID 0? Check
also that the internal SATA connectors and power connections are connected
correctly on both drives on the Promise RAID devices. During boot up does
the Promise scan try to see the devices - if so what is the message?

Have you tried to flash back to V1015 and does that work? If it does then
use that.

Thanks for the reply Bob. Yes all the plugs and physical setting are ok and
I've enabled the Onboard Promise Controller in the main BIOS and checked
everything else. The problem is the Promise Controller MBFastTrak378 BIOS
doesn't even apear anymore or even scan for the drives so there's no
messages at startup and I can't check any settings in there.

I'll try flashing back to 1015 and see if that helps!!?? In the meantime any
other suggestions appreciated!

After a bios update as mentioned in the readme a "Loading Bios default
settings is required"

Welcome to the club. That's one of the reasons why I stopped using RAID with
the Promise onboard controllers.
It's even less data security to my opinion.

Well after doing everything I've read about such as clearing the CMOS,
checking the settings etc. with no luck, I took Bob's advice and re-flashed
backward to 1015 (originally the BIOS was 1014). Low and behold, without
doing anything after the flash whatsover except rebooting, the system was
back to normal with RAID drives intact. Phew!

Don't know what the problem was, but I'm now obviously wary about the 1016
update!

thanks

Matt,
since you now appear to have a solution, it may be worthwhile trying v1016
again & seeing if the prob replicates.
It would be interesting. If you do so please post the result here.
