P4C800-E Deluxe And Standby

B

Brad Grier

I can't get my new P4C800-E Deluxe to come out of S-3 standby. Judging
from some older posts, I assume it's the single Hitachi 160 GB SATA
drive which appears to have compatibility problems with this motherboard
and/or BIOS version. I'm running BIOS 1016.

Has anyone found a solution or heard from Hitachi or Asus on this problem?

Thanks,

Brad

Had the same issue. Replaced the Hitachi drive with a Samsung. Works
fine now (but still, there is definitely a problem in this area that
should be fixed; Hitachi says it is an ASUS problem, fwiw).

Yes, I've got the exact same problem with this hard drive. Hitachi says the
motherboard's BIOS doesn't allow enough time for the hard drive to spin up
when coming out of standby. I've contacted Asus and haven't received any
helpful response. I'm hoping Asus will address this with a BIOS update, but
so far, I've seen no evidence that they're doing anything about it..

I have had this same problem with trying to resume after a suspend to ram. I
have a Hitachi HDS722580VLSA80 SATA. I opened a problem with ASUS and when I
talked to their support center person he assured me that there were no known
problems with the P4c800-e system board BIOS. When I asked it they had this
configuration working he felt sure that they have.
Can someone confirm that this system board and this HDD will perform a
resume?

Well it has been almost a month and I have not made any head way with ASUS
support or Hitachi on this problem. Has anyone else made any progress with
this problem?
And does anyone have this mother board and HDD combination and able to
successfully resume.

I received an e-mail from Asus instructing me to install the latest
chipset drivers from Intel. I already had those drivers installed. I
sometimes wonder if they're even aware there's a problem with Hitachi
drives and S3! Very annoying.

Good news...Hitachi tech support just sent me a BIOS version that fixes this
problem. It's an older one but still current: Version 1015.005

I have just installed the BIOS from the following site and it appears to
have corrected the S3 resume problem with my Hitachi SATA drive.
This is a beta version and I hope that when the GA level of this BIOS
becomes available that it still has this fix incorporated within it.
