Hi all

Up until now I've only used the two permanent usb 1.1 ports next to the
ps/2 ports and the included 4 port usb 2.0 bracket. But then recently I
decided to get an mp3 player and now I need some usb ports accessible
from the front of my machine. I looked at the Asus website and saw that
the P4B266 supports the Asus J-panel which features two usb 2.0 ports
and some audio connectors that I don't need (I've deactivated the
onboard sound card).

My question then is: How do I hook up this J-panel? Will I need to
disconnect the usb 2.0 bracket from one of the usb 2.0 headers in order
to support usb 2.0 on the J-panel? And will the disconnected ports from
the usb 2.0 bracket work with the extra usb 1.1 header on the mb? Also
am I correct when assuming that each usb header on the mb supports 2
ports/header?

I hope I'm making sense. Thanks in advance.

Doesn't anyone know anything about this? Also, are there any
alternatives to the j-panel? I don't really need the audio connectors,
so a front panel with only the usb ports would be great. Maybe something
that would fit into a 3.5" drive bay :)

REgardless if the 'J-panel' header is a single plug, there should still
be the USB1/USB2 headers if you know what I mean, the pinout on your
motherboard will take most standard usb panels, its a pretty simple 5
wire thing....

Your manual should have this info, and is available online

Switch USB20_EN set to 2/1 (Right) enables USB2.0.
Connectors USB20_12 and USB20_34 for 2x2 USB devices...
They should be in blue colour ( BUT - only the audio models )
