Overlapped I/O operation is in progress - error

Hi. can anyone figure this out.

Windows reports "Overlapped I/O operation is in progress"

I get this error message when I try to send a message to a networked PC with
a prog called "NetSend Lite" It occurs on 2 of the 3 PC's is use. All XP
Pro. The author has not come up with a solution yet. The PC it works on has
not had all the Windows updates done !!!

The Command Line > "net send" also fails on the 2 PC's in question. The MS
Knowledge base shows nothing but says "Ask your question to Microsoft Most
Valuable Professionals (MVPs) and others who use Microsoft Windows XP. You
can also search for your answer in existing posts.

it normally means something else is using the port that the
program is trying to send on

i wish i could help you more but im not all that knowledgeable on this issue
i had the same exact error.
in my case it was because i was running 2 instances od one program
the first instance was ok but when trying to use the second instance
i got that error

things to try are

swap network cables about could be a dodgy cable

download active ports its freeware and will show you what is open on what
ports
http://www.devhood.com/tools/tool_details.aspx?tool_id=515
if you see anything "odd" in there kill it then try your netsend

end all processes one at a time on the machine(s) in question
then after ending each process try your net send.
if once you have ended all processes ( except for critical default windows
ones of course )
it still doesnt work do the same for services.
stop (dont remove) extra services one at a time it shouldnt be any of the
default windows services
it will be something that has been added.

let us know how you get on
