Overclocking

I know very little to zero about overclocking. I would like to read up on it
and get an idea of the whole concept.

First, could someone please recommend some documentation, etc. that will
give me some insight?

Second, my system is as follows, could someone give me an idea at what speed
overclocking would achieve?

You could start at http://www.overclockers.com.

In their CPU database, you'll find, for example, that someone has taken a P4
2.4b to over 4 GHz. "LN2" is liquid nitrogen, though, so it was a stunt
rather than a practical machine.

Your system has mainboard that was made by Intel, so it probably does not
have any built-in overclocking. It also uses an 850E chipset, which requires
Rambus memory. It's supposed to be fast, but it does not appear to be loved
by overclockers.

The least expensive reliable way to overclock may be to not overclock at
all. The fastest CPU for the 533 MHz FSB (front side bus) is a "Northwood"
3.06 GHz. They are available at Newegg (www.newegg.com) for $233US, with
free shipping. Be sure to avoid the 3.0 GHz CPUs, with the 800 MHz FSB.

Let me be clear: I'm not trying to persuade you not to overclock, I just
think it would be excessively difficult with your system. I'm writing this
on a homebuilt system that uses an Asus P4P800 mainboard (Intel 865PE
chipset) and DDR400 (= PC3200) memory. The CPU is a 2.6c run at 13*250 (3.25
GHz). All that I've changed to get to there was to replace the original
fan/heatsink with an all-copper aftermarket unit.

Don't know about all the below but pretty much same setup. Newest bios
update allows fsb to be taken to 200. Have a 2.8 533fsb in machine running
at 145fsb for a 3.04 effective processor. Very stable so far.
