Over clocking help with AMD X2 4200+

This is the system: AMD A64X2-4200+; Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 MB (flashed
to current F5
level); Corsair XMS2 2x1GB DDR2-800; XFS 7900GS video; 2x WD1600YS in
Raid 0 (system), 1 seagate 320 gb & 1 WD500 gb - non-raid (all SATA);
Ulta 500w PSU; DVD rom drive & Lite-On DVD writer........

This is my first AMD system and the first that would allow over
clocking and don't know where to start. Any pointers to reference
material would be most appreciated.

Also, I read a post on NewEgg where a buyer said he had to change the
timing on his memory for this board (was using same memory and board),
but I can't figure out how to do that in the BIOS or with the Gigabyte
program "Easy Tune".

Thanks for your help.

Most 4200+ X2's can run at 4600+ speed without any problem (with OEM heatsink).
I've been running mine @

240 base clock
10x multiplier
4x HT multiplier
DDR333 Mem Setting (provides actual DDR400 clock at above settings)

With these settings the processor will be operating at 2.4GHz , the HT will be at
960MHz, and the memory will be operating at 400Mhz. This is a 9% overlock of the
cpu. My processor has never exceeded 53C with both cores fully loaded at these
settings.

If you want to go much higher, you generally have to comprimise somewhat on memory
clockspeed (perhaps a slight over or underclock).

The above settings are a good place to start ...

Thank you for the input. This gives me some good guidelines.
