Outlook2007 and ActiveSync4.5

Peter

I have MS Office Professional installed.

I am getting an error when trying to sync Outlook2007 from my PC
to my iPaq214 PDA. I get status message "ActiveSync encountered
a problem on the desktop - Support code 85010014".

Searching Google suggests the problem lies with Outlook, which
should be re-installed. Does anyone have any experience of this?

When I go through Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, it does
not seem to be possible selectively to uninstall/re-install
individual applications. How can I uninstall Outlook2007 and
reinstall it without uninstalling the whole of MS Office2007?

You have first tried Office Diagnostics, within Outlook (Help menu)
An uninstall/Reinstall rarely cures an Outlook problem

To remove an individual component, insert your Office cd, modify, select the
component (It used to say run from disk as apposed to PC, not sure if the
same in 2007)

Activesync problems are never the fault of Outlook.

Try downloading the latest version from Microsoft Downloads, then uninstall
your version and install the one you just downloaded.

Oftentimes, a soft reset is all that is required, or even deleting a
partnership and creating a new one works as well.

I was not aware of Office Diagnostics, which I have now tried.
It found and repaired one problem and now the sync with iPaq is
working again. Very many thanks!

Thanks Milly. Please see my last post which crossed with yours.
I had tried soft and hard reset and had downloaded the most
recent version of ActiveSync, but with no success. But your
response is appreciated.
