Outlook2000 Auto complete email address

I am using Outlook 2000 and it does not auto complete the email address I am
typing in the 'TO' field when compiling a new message. As I start with the
first letter it should automatically complete the closest address and change
as I add letters. HELP.

I don't know that Outlook 2000 can do that. I know that newer versions can,
but I haven't seen 2000 display that behaviour.

Outlook 2002 was the first version with autocomplete.

Okay so if it Outlook 2002 "can do that", HOW do I turn it on and ensure that
it doesn't turn itself off again? There are no optins tyo perform this on any
of the OL 2002 tabs that open with "options" or "customize".

Why the big secret?

Thanks.

Sure there are:
Tools > Options > Preferences > Email Options > Advanced Email options... >
Suggest names...

Okay, now I'm really confused...because that's been checked all along but
Outlook only applies this option randomly, at best. In other words, when I
begin typing a name that's currently in my Outlook address book (and has been
there for years, unchanged) it may or may not "suggest" a name.

There is no consistency whatsoever. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
