Outlook Xpress ver 6 crashing with Mcafee viruscan

I am running Win XP(home edition) with Outlook Express ver
6 & McAfee viruscan ver 6.0

I've have been running these apps since aquiring my pc 3
years ago & all ran well

My pc was infected by a virus a month back & I had to do
disk scan, clean up & reinstall my WinXP.

Since doing this I have had a problem with my Oulook
Express as follows:

when I have my McAfee virusscan loaded & operating my
Outlook Express does strange things like:

- I set up a folder , close Outlook, access it again & my
folder is not there?

- My Outlook folders rearrange themselves i.e. are not in
the order I created them in?

- At times I cannot create an email message & get error
messages?

- When I manage to create an email message & click send it
does not go to my Outbox & therefore cannot be sent?

After much fault finding a friend suggested it may be my
McAfee viruscan ver 6.0 which was causing the problem.

So,I deactivated McAfee & Outlook Express behaved
perfectly like before .... activated McAfee again & these
problems reappeared??

I was forced to upgrade to McAfee version 8.0 to be able
to use my Outlook Express.

Why can I not use my McAfee viruscan ver 6.0 with my
Outlook Express?
& why should I have to upgrade my McAfee to be able to use
Outlook?

Hello,

there is a patch on the McAffee Homepage. I forget the
link, but you will find it.

PRIVAT: Why do you need McAffee? The only one you need are
the patches and updates from MS and a good Virus Scan for
free. USE ANTIVIR 6.0. Thats the best for free.
