Outlook XP Post installation Config.

Hi Guys,

I'm currently sending out an Office 2003 GPO MSI install , together with a
nice .mst transform file to configure everything at users desks. All is
working beautifully.

I'm wondering if it's possible to send out a similar .mst config file to
configure users Outlook XP profiles on machines with Office XP already
installed, and which will not be receiving Office 2003. The reason I'm
asking is that users are complaining about having to constantly configure
their OL XP profiles as they move around different PC's. Is such post
installation configuration possible?

Many Thanks in advance,
Orb.

For existing Outlook 2002 users, you would use the Custom Maintenance Wizard from the Office XP Resource Kit and send out a .cmw file. See http://www.slipstick.com/exs/olroam.htm for other tools to manage mail profiles for roaming users.

Hi Sue,

Thanks for your reply:blush:)

The original Office installation was image based i.e. it was preinstalled on
a machine and not delivered via any kind of group policy or MSI. When I
kick the Custom Maintenance Wizard off, the first thing it asks for is the
relevant MSI installer. Do I need to extract the Office XP install files
and make this .MSI available for this to work? If so, will this method
alter the workstation installation in any way other than the desired Outlook
profile setting?

That was long winded wasn't it!

Many Thanks again,
Orb.
