Outlook XP - Cannot open Rules and Alerts

Old Timer

Hi All,

I have a vanilla install of Outlook XP, with an IMAP account set up
collecting from a non-MS mail server - all working fine.

I cannot open the Rules and Alerts in the Tools menu.

A dialog pops up from 'Microsoft Office Outlook' to say
'The operation failed. An object cannot be found'

When I close the dialog I get a glimpse of the Rules and Alerts and
then nothing.

Naturally, it would be helpful if it said which object could not be
found - but hey!

Can anyone suggest a solution.

I have tried 'Detect and Repair' - and it seems happy.

Thanks.

Perfect solution.

Created a new profile, then restarted Outlook (guess I should have
shut down first) and Rules and Alerts appears.

Thanks for your Help
