Outlook XP and Norton Recylcle

T

Tom

I know everyone says they never did anything... but in
this case it's true.

Yesterday, I could open a new email form in Outlook XP or
click on Reply on a received email message, and I would be
able to Send. Now the Send is missing from the Outlook
email form.

Also, I am unable to get Norton Recyle Enabled to hold--
it turns itself off.

Both these worked fine last night around midnight: the
only action I've taken on my system was to run MS
AntiSpyware (with the latest definitions)early this
morning. I've had no problems running that program up to
now.

Any ideas? I've searched the MS Knowledge Base, and also
did a system restore to yesterday morning, when both the
above were working normally. No luck.

Hi Tom,

thanks for testing the beta. If you are using Windows XP, please try
restoring your computer to an earlier time, e.g. before installing MS
AntiSpyware, to see if the symtoms disappear. This should provide
clarity as to what has happened. (Alternatively, you can of course
also uninstall the software.)

If - after restoring to an earlier time - everything works as
expected, you might want to install MS AntiSpyware again to see if the
problems re-appear immediately. Please check for the symptoms before
you do the first scan.

Thanks,

Thanks for the response. Going back to a previous system
restore point made no difference. I uninstalled MS
AntiSpyware, and reinstalled. Outlook now has the
appropriate Send button on the email forms.

However, the Norton Protection for recycle bin enable
setting still doesn't "hold."

Hi again,

as for the Outlook SEND button, I'm glad to hear this was resolved by
re-installing AntiSpyware, although this prevents us from
troubleshooting this any further.

As for the Norton Protection for Recycle Bin, can you please explain a
bit more what this setting is about? I'm not familiar with this, but
might be able to provide guidance on how this could be troubleshooted
when I understand what it's about. Is this a setting that doesn't
persist in Norton Antivirus? If so, did it persist when AntiSpyware
was temporarily uninstalled?

Thanks,
