Outlook XP address book

I recently built a new PC and loaded Office XP. I imported the .pst
file from my old pc that was running Outlook 2000. Everything from my
old setup (address book, inbox, contacts) is there, however the address
book contacts won't come up if composing a "new" email and hitting the
"TO:" button. Is there a way to correct this, or should I just load
Outlook 2000 and forget about it?

I have read and understand the info in this link. BUT, for one of my users
the option to select the box to show the folder as an e-mail address book is
"greyed" out. What do I do now?

Add the Address Book service first or otherwise remove it and add it again.

So if I read the instructions correctly (I'm using XP), I select the address
book from Outlook, then Tools, then Options, then Add. At this point there
should be an option entitled Additional Address Books. There is no such
option. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be in a different area?

No, you don't select the Address Book first. In Outlook's main window,
click Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change existing directories or address
books>Next. If Outlook Address Book shows up, select it, remove it, and
restart Outlook. To add it, click Add at this point. You should then see
the "Additional address books" choice there.

Brian,

When I click on Tools, "E-mail Accounts" is not listed. I've got Send,
Send/Receive, Remote Mail, Address Book, Advanced Find, Rules Wizard,
Microsoft Mail Tools, Empty "Deleted Items" Folder, Forms, Macro, Services,
Customize, and Options. Am I missing something?

You're not using Outlook 2002 (contained in Office XP) with those menu
items. The "Services" items indictaes you're using Outlook 2000 in
Corporate and Workgroup mode. You can verify this with Help>About.

Click Tools>Services and see if the "Outlook Address Book" service is
defined there. If not, add it. If so, remove it, restart Outlook, and add
it. Then right-click on the Contacts folder, choose Properties, and enable
the folder as an address book on the "Outlook Address Book" tab.

You were right on. I followed your directions and everything worked like it
should. Thanks for the assistance!

So I've got that problem fixed now (thank you). On to the next, similar
problem. I know I've seen this somewhere before but can't remember where. I
have another user (using Outlook 2000) who has contact folders listed that
don't actually exist. How do I delete the name from the listing?
