Scenario

Computer A (My Primary PC)

Computer B (different computer at work)

I see and receive my emails just fine when I am on my Computer A. But when I
log into another Computer B, it doesn't have my emails.

Is there a way to FORCE SYNC my primary to the Exchange Server?

Thank you!

Using Cached mode or no? What version of Outlook? Can you see the messages
in OWA?

Assuming everything is set up correctly (both outlooks pointing to the same
exchange account) it sounds like you are archiving or moving messages to pst
files on Computer A. If so, there is no way to synch them with another
computer.

I'd hardly say there is 'no way' to do it... you could just move them back
into the mailbox.

On one network I admin (without roaming profiles), if a user wants to
access their mail on a different computer, I have to first create an
account in Control Panel under Mail.

Hi F.H. Muffman

1. No the emails, are not on OWA.
2. Office 2003
3. Yes, cache mode

Please let me know if you need to know anything else. Thanks!

If the messages aren't in OWA then the messages aren't on the server, which
would explain why you can't see them from a different machine.

I'd wager that the messages are being downloaded into a PST, in which case,
you should stop that and keep them on the server.

Ok, I see. Where is the Location or file path the User Mailboxes on ther
server? or is there a way to force a sync? Because it does sync with the
server, but if that is true, it should be working correctly when I am on
another PC.

The location is in the Exchange database, but, if there was mail in the mailbox
in the database, you'd see it in OWA.

Do this, go over to the machine where you can see your mail and exit completely
out of Outlook.
Bring up Task Manager to be sure that the Outlook.exe process is not running
on the processes tab.
Use Hotmail, gmail, whatever to send yourself an email message.
Open up OWA to see if the mail is there.

If it is, and there's no reason it shouldn't be, then you need to look at
your Outlook settings on this machine to see how you're moving the mail into
a PST. It could be a rule, it could be your delivery location. Once you
figure out what's moving the messages, change it, and drag your mail back
up to the Inbox on the server and it'll be available everywhere.

If it's not there, you need to talk to your Exchange admin to figure out
why mail isn't going to your mailbox.

I have working with the exchange admin and haven't had much luch either. I am
the first teir so I am trying to figure this out. I have also deleted the
..ost files and made copies of the .pst files already for backup. I will try
to find the exchange database.
Thank you

Why are there PSTs?

Again, if there isn't anything in OWA, there likely won't be anything in
the OST either.

Do this at the client that *can* see the mail.

Go to Tools - Account Settings and go to the Data Files tab.

What is listed as the Default?

It says:

Name
Archive Folders

Filename
C:(filepath to the location)

Mail delivery location

So it looks like the emails are going directly to this Archive.pst file, but
it isn't syncing with the exhcange server. Please let me know if you need to
know anything else. Thanks,

Yes, correct, that's what I did. But the issue is the emails are not directed
to the Exchange server it is directed to the .pst on the Computer A.

Is there a way to direct the emails to go to the server?

Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. In the lower left, change the "Deliver new e-mail
to the following location" drop-down to be the Exchange mailbox. Stop and
restart Outlook.

It worked, after I did that, I just copied all of the older emails into the
Exchange mail box and it is all back. Now I have a better understanding of
out this is stored.

But is there a way to look at the inbox on the Exchange Server? System
Manager?

Because you're telling it NOT to sync with the Exchange server.

You are connecting to an Exchange server and telling Outlook 'Hey, deliver
the mail to this PST file.'

So, it does.

All the mail goes to that PST file whenever this Outlook client is running.

It doesn't get stored on the server.

It gets stored in that PST file.

If you want the mail to stay on the server, then the Default should be Mailbox
- Username.

Once you've set that, restart Outlook. I'm about 90% sure you'll need to
then drag all the mail out of the PST back up into your mailbox for it to
be available.

My word, your Exchange admin couldn't figure this out?

I don't understand this question. If your delivery location is the Exchange
mailbox, then your Inbox is on the Exchange server and opening the Inbox is
looking at the Exchange server.

That worked! Thanks

If I log into the Exchange Server, where can I find all of these user
mailboxes. I would like to go to the mail box itself on the server next time,
then trying to fix it on the workstations.

Thanks
