Outlook won't stop trying to send a message

Everytime Outlook does a Send/Receive I get an error
message on an attempt to send a message even though the
Outbox folder is empty. This began when I attempted to
send a message with too many recipients for my ISP. Now,
even though there's no message in the Outbox, Outlook
apparently tries and fails to send the message
constantly. How do I stop this?

It's probably trying to send a read receipt. They're not stored in the
Outbox. You have to enable the account under which the receipt was first
created.
