Outlook won't send and recieve automatically and has strange icon

Outlook won't send and recieve unless I do it manually. Also I noticed an
icon that wasn't there before. It is kind of a box with a short line coming
down and 2 lines going out from it and has a small red x. Anyone know what
it is?

That icon shows that Outlook is offline. Click it and uncheck "Work Offline".
