Outlook won't remember password

The "dialer" box always has a default(?) 16 char password in
it and I have to enter the correct password by hand. It seems to
remember other stuff like the phone number.

If this is your internet connection dialogue then this is not an OL
question, but one that should be directed to the group supporting your o/s

If when you use IE this doesnt happen, and you connect normally, then it is
possible you have the wrong connection in use in your OL accounts setup

You are seeing the default 16 dots representing your actual shorter password.
If it didn't have any dots, it has no password. Just use the 16 dots and it
should connect fine. Don't correct them.

I think I tried that and it didn't work. I'll try again.

Mary, you are very wise. I know I tried this before but was
probably fooled by a spat of dropped connections this ISP sometimes
has. Also, I get two different dialing windows. The one with 16
char. comes up automatically when I run Outlook. A different looking
window comes up if I hit Send/Receive. It has the correct number of
dots. Windows can be weird.
