Outlook won't play wav file but tests fine!

I just added a personalized wav file for my new mail notification, following the appropriate steps, and it won't play when new mail arrives. All boxes are checked, and I installed the add-ins that are recommended. The file tests fine, but it isn't working for either of my email accounts. Help!!

Outlook doesn't play the sound files. Windows does that. There might be
something wrong with the sound file or the setup. What 'appropriate steps'
did you take? Did you select it in Control Panel, Sounds, New Mail? Go there
and Browse to the file to select it. Try selecting another existing wave file
to test. BTW, New Mail Notification does not work for HTTP-Web Mail like
Hotmail.

I have the same problem as Elaine. Using Outlook 2007 and Vista Premium, I
don't get any sound with new e-mail although I have set up the Windows
parameters and Outlook as you suggested. Funny, it works fine in Windows
Live Mail when I tested it there, and it worked fine when I was using XP as
OS, so i am assuming there is a problem with Outlook 07 and Vista. Any
ideas? I really hate having to drop Outlook (which did cost something) in
favor of a lesser program that mysteriously works.

Does anyone have any ideas how to solve my problem? I have checked this
board almost daily hoping that someone would have the answer. Thanks.
