I get Vonage emails with .wav attachments but Outlook won't play t

Hello, this has been driving me crazy for about 2 months now...

I use Outlook 2007 with Vista Premium and I have several Vonage phone lines
programmed to email me (along with the .wav attachments) when I miss calls.
This had worked perfectly for many months. I would simply click on the
attachment and it would open Windows Media Player and I could play the
message.

In an attempt to determine where the problem is coming from, I have went to
my on-line internet provider's web mail site and the .wav file works from
there. It is only when I am using Outlook. Out tests lead me to believe that
it is a setting or a problem with Outlook and these files (since they once
worked perfectly).

I get the following message in Outlook everytime I try to open the Vonage
..wav file:

"Cannot create file: voice-message.wav. Right-click the folder you want to
create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check
your permissions for the folder"

Can anybody shed any light on this? I've searched the internet and I read
about people discussing it but never anyone offering a solution. I also
worked with Vonage technical yesterday and they could not find a solution nor
any reference to this particular error in their files anywhere. Please help!

Thanks in advance...

Brian,

I can't thank you enough! My computer is working perfectly now. I know for
a fact that I would have never figured out the solution to that problem. But
once I pasted the registry section that you mentioned into Explorer, I saw
about 187 files. I was surprised to see that most of them were .jpg photos,
and a few media files, but sure enough, I saw a few of the "Vonage .wav"
files from a couple of months ago also.

I deleated all of them, opened Outlook 2007, clicked on a .wav attachment
and it worked perfectly.

You know. I joined this only 5 minutes before posting my problem and you
responded before the next morning. I am so glad that I joined.

Thank you again for your excellent help. There's a lot f people that are
having this problem so I'll be sure to let them know with all due credit
going to you of course!

Have a great up=coming week Brian!

One of the ways to combat this situation is to make sure you always close
attachments to a message before closing the message and Outlook. This
should result in the temporary files being deleted. Another way to combat
it, of course, is to move the Secure Temp folder to a location that's more
accessible or to use the tool found at the bottom the the web page I cited.

You're welcome. This problem is fairly common, so there have been a lot of
postings about it. You can often find solutions by searching the newsgroup.
