Outlook won't open...I've tried changing the .dat file

My outlook won't open. I've tried several different things but with no
luck. I can open it using the safe switch, but thats it. I'm running
Outlook 2000 with Windows XP, and after trying and trying to find the
outcmd.dat file I finally figured out that it was hidden so I figured
out how to un-hide the files and found it and changed the name to
outcmd.old and tried to start outlook again but with no luck. Now what
do I do? Help! I really need outlook!

Have you tried reinstalling the app? Do you receive any error messages?
Have you installed any new apps lately? Check the settings on the Data
Execution Protection feature. Check your error log as well. Sorry that
I have more questions then answers.
