outcmd.dat file type of NeroShowTime.Files7.dat

I have Windows XP Home and Office 2003.

My pc came with a Nero app installed, but I didn't like it so I removed it
(properly thru Add or Remove Programs).

For some reason the type for my Outlook outcmd.dat file is
'NeroShowTime.Files7.dat'. Now, occasionally when I open Outlook after
booting, Outlook starts to open and then closes. If I delete the outcmd.dat,
then Outlook opens just fine (but outcmd.dat still has the Nero type).

Out of curiosity, I did a search thru the registry with 'Nero' and there are
dozens of entries with the word Nero in them. I wonder what gives? It seems
like the program that removed Nero should have gotten rid of most if not all
of the entries.

Anyhow, how do I fix the outcome.dat in Outlook? (I'm assuming that the Nero
file type is causing the problem.....maybe not.)

Close Outlook. Locate outcmd.dat and rename it (eg: outcmd.dat_old). Open
Outlook.

That has the same effect as deleting outcmd.dat.....I just did it. A new
outcmd.dat gets created and when you look in the Type column in Windows
Explorer it still has
'NeroShowTime.Files7.dat' entered. Will someone take a look at what should
be in that column and let me know....then I'll give a try at changing it.

The file type association for .DAT files is immaterial. It doesn't affect the
contents of the file and Outlook will have no problems opening it and using
it. Something else appears to be corrupting that file.

The uninstall for Nero is clearly incomplete. As the vendor of the software
how to clean up the registry.
