Outlook - too many windows

M

Marc Juffkins

Hi,

I wonder if anyone has an answer to the question below - someone asked me
the other day and I cannot find a solution!

In Outlook XP (2002 SP-2) when a user double clicks on a message it creates
a new message window, if the user then goes back to the inbox and double
clicks on a message another message window appears so that she now has 3
Outlook windows open. Is there a way of configuring Outlook so that when she
double clicks on the 2nd message it replaces the old message window so that
there are only ever two windows open - which is Outlook itself and the
currently viewed email?

I have explained to her the benefits of the preview pane but she wants to
open the email up into a new window!

Thanks in advance,
Marc Juffkins

No. Many people want more than one message open so they can cut and paste
between then. Sounds like the users need to be trained how to use the
preview pane and how to close windows.

To add on what Sue said;
When the message is open and all you want to do is read the next or previous
item the user can use the Previous Item and Next Item button on the Toolbar
of the opened message.
