Outlook stopped journaling word and excel documents

Two weeks ago (maybe three now) Outlook suddenly stopped recording word,
excel documents in the journal function. I've checked the settings, checked
the registry, and no luck. Everything is set to record but it doesn't!

Any hints out there?

I've not seen it stop except where the non-unicode .pst got too close to the
2GB limit.
