Outlook 2007 Journal

I work in a law firm where all revenue is generated by Time. Journaling was
a feature we used extensively to record time before I started upgrading
people to Outlook 2007. Now Outlook 2007 Journal only records Word, Excel
Documents from the local machine and not the network, which makes it useless
to our network environment. Is there a chance this is going to be changed in
the future? Why would Microsoft take away this feature? Maybe they don't
even know the feature doesn't work, what with the 1000's of beta testers and
countless employees and programers............blah, blah, blah, I'm done.

Indeed maybe they don't. The Journal features probably are the least used of all Outlook's capabilities. If you have a retail version of Office/Outlook 2007, I suggest that you file a support incident on this issue. This is the best way to let Microsoft know that there's a problem with the application. Actually, Microsoft does know this feature no longer works and, according to
my call to technical support, they did it on purpose. I don't know who made
this really bad decision, but perhaps if we receive enough complaints they
will fix it back to work with network documents. I think they just didn't
work with people who bill their time by the hour and need to keep track of
what has been worked on for how log. Their "advice" was to manually create a
journal entry.

Sue, perhaps if you have their ear more than the rest of us you can point
out what a crucial feature this is (or was).
