Have you applied Service Pack 2 already for Office 2007?
Initial usage might be slow while your emails are being indexed.
Which mail account type are you using?
Which version of Windows are you using?
Does it work better in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe
How long ago is "recently"? When you first install it there is a lot of
indexing going on that will slow it down but after a few hours or a day or
so (depending upon the speed of the machine and size of the message stores)
it should speed up. Also, have you upgraded to Office 2007 SP2 yet?
