Outlook 2007 loaded pc very slow

I have recently loaded outlook 2007 and I am finding my pc is now very very slow and hanging when using outlook 2007, can it affect my pc this way, the pc will speed back up when i close outlook and go back to outlook express. I need to change over to outlook 2007 for a more professional email base. Can anyone assis

What operating system and do you have any 3rd party applications installed
that index files/email/.etc?
