Outlook slow to respond

Outlook 2000 on XP system very slow to respond. This happened suddenly.
I've uninstalled and re-installed Outlook and it's still slow. I literally
wait minutes for the program to open, to open a window to create a new
email, to open an email, etc. What's going on?

Have you a lot of imported files in your system? If you
have a lot of emails it can take a bit of time - if so try
archiving some and see if it helps.

No, I've been keeping my emails down so not very many at all.

No, I ran Norton for quite a while but switched to McAffee this year.
Nothing with my antivirus software had changed when this problem began.
