Hi,
When i try to add attendees to the new meeting request, my outlook shuts
down automatically. There is no problem at all in adding the meeting room as
a resource. This problem persists only when i try to add attendees.
This doesnt happen only while adding particular attendee, but all any name.
I m using Outlook 2003 - Microsoft Exchange Server - SP2.

I have never faced this problem earlier. Just recently since past 1 week.
Tried Reinstalling Office, Clean free/busy. No go.

Can anyone help me?

What's being logged to the Event Viewer regarding this?
Does it work correctly in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

Hi,

I tried to add attendees using different option i.e Tools-->Address Book. I
can add the attendees now, However, the moment i go to Scheduling for
checking Free/Busy option, Outlook just shuts down.

Yes, it works perfectly allright in Outlook Safe Mode. Its not only me,
there are few others also whi are facing the same problem. The number seems
to be increasing.

Any guess?

if it works in safe mode, it means an addin or possibly a configuration file
is causing problems. Start by looking at addins- especially ones involving
calendaring such as those installed by web meeting software. in 2003,
addins are are tools, options, other, advanced - look in both com-addins and
addin manager.

Hi,

I did check the add-ins. The settings on my outlook is exactly the same as
other outlook settings. However, this problem persists only with me.

You said that it can possibly be a configuration file causing problem. can
you please elaborate more on this. Can you tell me, which file would it be
and where would i find it and how can i troubleshoot.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike,

I did follow the steps you mentioned.
After deleting the registry key, i did try to add the attendees to the
meeting and guess what, it worked fine.

Just for testing purpose, i did check the COm Add-in, whereas there was only
one COM Add-in "Telenor Mobil SMS fra Outlook".
Once i checked it and restart Outlook again and tried adding the attendee, i
got the same error message again.

This makes sure that the issue was due to this Add-in. However, do we have
any alternatiove for thsi Add-in or any solution.
Cause the user needs this add-in checked.

Please reply.

Hi Mike.

I see that Add-In "Telenor Mobil SMS fra Outlook" is not the only problem.
What i found is, there are few other users also, who do not have this Add-In.

If this add-in is not a problem, what could be the other reason?

Is there any other solution for this?

Hi Mike,

As i mentioned that there are other users who are facing the same issue.
However, the other users do not have any 3rd party addins.

And also, the addin "Telenor Mobil SMS fra Outlook" is used by many other
users. If this addin could be a problem, then theis problem should persist
with all the users. But then here only one user with this particular addin
is facing this issue and rest other users who face this issue, do not use
this add-in.

What do u think could be the problem?

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

If the user who encounter problem does not have any third-party add-ins run
with Outlook, I would like to explain that it is a more complicated
problem. We need to gather dump files to locate the root cause of the
problem. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the
newsgroups because of the nature of forum support. A support call to our
product service team is needed for the debugging service. I'd like to
recommend that you contact Microsoft Customer Support Service (CSS) for
assistance so that this problem can be resolved efficiently. To obtain the
phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web
site listed below:

If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for
regional support phone numbers.

Thanks,
