Hello there:

I really need your help.
I just installed MS Office 2007 Pro with Outlook onto my new Sony Vaio
notbook running Windows Vista Business.

My Internet conenction is no problem, and I pass the Outlook test messages.
I can send simple e-mails with texts and very small sizes (less than 4KB) to
myself or anyone. However, I CANNOT send out any e-mail with any reasonable
size (i.e., greater than 5KB); my Outbox has many e-mails waiting to be sent
out; their sizes vary from 5KB to 132KB (small by any measure), some with
attachments (also small in size).

I could not figure why? My old Sony Vaio notebook running Windows XP Pro and
Office 2007 Pro has no problem sending out even huge attachments with e-mails.

My pst (personl file folder) size in Outlook is not that big (about 600MB),
less than 1GB. It seems that Outlook has a sort of filter gauging my Outbox
e-mail sizes; if the e-mail size is trly small (3KB), then no problem in
sending out the e-mail. Otherwise, whether I ahve attachmets, or
replying/forwarding e-mail to others, my e-mails jsut got stuck in the Outbox?

I ahve no clue why this happened? Could any one of you provide a sugegstion
or a fix? Thank you so much in advance!

What happens? What does "CANNOT send" actually mean? Any error messages?
If so, what do they say? When does the send fail? Do you have your AV set
to scan outgoing mail (you shouldn't). What's your server timeout value?
What's your send/receive interval?

Dear Brian:

You are right!
I first checked my e-mail account setting (ok), timeout setting (2 minutes),
and send/receive interval; all is fine.

Further, I checked my Firewall which is not blocking Outlook e-mails sending
or receiving.
Then, I checked my AV which is not scanning my e-mail attachments.

As I was at a loss, I noted that I also installed a Spamware scanning
software, named "Spy Sweeper"; it has a "Shield on" for e-mail attachment.
That is, Spy Sweeper was scanning my e-mail attachment (not my AV) and
causing disruption in sending my e-mails in the Outbox.
Once I check off the Shield on E-Mail attachment, my e-mails were sent out
quickly!

Thank you so much for your hints and checks. Checking the basics solves the
problem (Spy Sweeper).

Best regards,

Westwood

You're welcome. I'm glad you found the problem.

Then that particular PST is likely an ANSI (Outlook 97-2002) format PST and
you need to convert it to a Unicode PST. See this:
