into Outlook 2003 sp3 or 2007 and select invite attendess by default request
responses is unticked and has to be manually enabled for responses to be
solicited from invitees. These ics files are generated by a servlet and
served with
http headers "Content-Type", "text/calendar; charset=UTF-8" and
"Content-Disposition", "filename=calendar.ics" . Handling non ascii
characters and meeting priorities across Outlook 2003 / 2007 is also
necessary. I'd also like to if possible keep compatability with other
calendaring clients

If however I create a meeting in outlook the request responses is by default
on. Is there any way I change the behaviour for imported files so that
request responses is selected as I can't expect end users to be knowledgable
enough to go poking through menus.

What happens if, instead of importing, you simply drag that file to your
calendar?

What happens if, instead of importing, you simply drag that file to your
calendar?

Both samples import, however only the first gives me option to invite
attendees. Once I do that the request response menu option is unticked
