outlook.pst

Can anyone help with a problem which is causing me not to
be able to receive emails in Outlook 2000.

I get a message saying
c:\windows\localsettings\applicationdata\microsoft\outlook\
outlook.pst cannot be opened.

When this file is searched for it comes up OK and using a
wildcard so does a backup and when the files are swapped,
renaming so the backup becomes outlook.pst it works fine,
but I don't get my recent emails. (I am currently running
some auctions on ebay so these are very important.)

It looks like the outlook.pst file is corrupt. I have
tried repair and detect from within Outlook but that won't
work and the integrity checker from the microsoft website
won't work either, neither will attempting to download a
program update.

Help!

It looks like the outlook.pst file is corrupt.

You need to use the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe). It's usually on your
hard drive in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office folder tree.
