Outlook.pst is not compatible with this version of the Personal Fo

I recently reformatted my system and re-installed outlook and all of the
updates.
About outlook says "Microsoft Outlook 2002 (10.6515.6626) SP3"
I ran auto backups. Right before I reformatted I personally made a fresh
backup of my files. Now when I try to import my pst files, or even try to
point outlook to those files, I get this message:
"Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook. The file C:\....Outlook.pst is not
compatible with this version of the Personal Folders information service.
Contact your administrator"

Any suggestions to at least retrieve my e-mail would be appreciated. Thanks

In what version of Outlook did you create this data file?
What are "auto backups?"

I made the pst file in the same version listed above. re-installed the
software I already have (Office XP's version of outlook)
About outlook says "Microsoft Outlook 2002 (10.6515.6626) SP3"
The auto backup I am refering to is not a plugin or anything, I just
scheduled it to backup outlook once a week incase a reason came about I would
not lose much.
Currently though I have lost it all.
The thing is this makes no sense to me, I have ran the SCANPST.EXE to no
avail.
I even copied the existing outlook folder to the other hard drive along with
the backup pst files before this format, so it should all still work. I even
zipped a set of them so I have like a bunch of copies of the same files, but
they all seem to have corrupted.

I still have no idea what you did to create this file.
I back up files by copying them to a safe location.
What did you do?

lets just forget about backup that is not important, it contains the same
info the outlook.pst has, but the rest I do like you did, I copied data
folder to drive D:

for safe measures (so i thought) I also made a zip file containing the pst
files, but I left the original pst's in the folder, so I have the original
files, and the zip containing copies of the orig files. I then copied the
whole folder to the D drive.
Unplugged D: from the system because this computer is striped raid,(windows
installer gets confused when dealing with raid on my system) Reformatted,
installed windows, office, and some other programs. When I tried to import
the files, copy the files, replace the current (fresh outlook) files with the
ones I had been using.
It worked the time before when I reformatted...

The raid has nothing to do with this, I have ran Raid Striped setups for years

OK. We'll forget about how you created this file.
The error message you are getting has only been seen if you created the PST
file with Outlook 2003 then try to open it in an earlier version.
I'll leave it to you to explain that part.

I today have the same problem from the user below. I definitely made
the .pst files in Outlook 2002 and are trying to reinput into Outlook
2002 and receive the same message. Any direction or support is greatly
appreciated.
