Does anyone know if a pst is created in Outlook 2000 or 2002 and then is
opened in Outlook 2003, does it inherit the max size of a pst in Outlook 2003
or does it still retain its size limit of 2GB. Any help greatly appreciated.

No, it does not change. You need to make a new one (using the new format) to
get the large file size.
