Outlook: outgoing mail error

G

Guest

(Installed: Windows XP SP2; Office professional 2007 Evaluation mode).

Receiving e-mails but cannot send mails nor respond to my e-mails: “Error
0X800CCC1A†– referring to server and coding incompatibility –.

Contacted Bell-Sympatico: SSL is their coding standard. After resetting
profile account, testing DSL modem, closing firewall and anti-virus, etc., no
solution found. Hypothesis: Office evaluation period is over and partial
shutdown of Outlook!!

I have tried repairing and reinstalling Outlook – Control panel/adding
deleting programs, no results.

Any input is welcomed.

0x800CCC1A SECURE_CONNECT_FAILED Unable to connect using SSL.

Tools | Accounts
Double click the account.
On the Servers tab uncheck "Logon using Secure Password Authentication".

That's the concensus on that error number.

Kathleen,
I appreciate your quick response:
The "Logon using..." tab WAS unchecked.
Still no solution to "0x800CCC1A".

Negative on port number.
Message indicates: " Task "(e-mail address removed) - send" responded with Error
Number (0x800CCC1A) : "Server does not take charge of this type of coding for
connection. Try to change method of coding. To obtain assistance, contact
administrator server or Internet service provider (ISP)â€.

Good afternoon,
3 technical support calls later [to Bell Sympatico], + 1 follow up from
their part, the problem is more likely that "...MS Office 2007 Evaluation
(including Outlook) is over and partial shutdown of Outlook" !!!!
15 th of may 2007 seems to be the deadline I reponded: but that was their
answer.

The last I heard of expiry dates were the following:

February 1, Beta 2 will expire.
March 31, B2TR will expire.

Using Microsoft Office 12.0 (Évaluation) French version.
According to Ms France newsgroup, May would be the expiry date.

Try the following to see if it helps at all:

STEP 1: Turn off Outlook 2007 and Locate these files

1. extend.dat - you will find this file in the location | Drive
Lettter:\Documents and Settings\user-directory\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\extend.dat //change it to extend.old

2. views.dat - may not find it most of the time

3. frmcache.dat - Drive Letter:\Documents and Settings\user-directory\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\FORMS\FRMCACHE.DAT //change it to
FRMCACHE.old

4. outcmd.dat - C:\Documents and Settings\user-directory\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outcmd.dat //change it to OUTCMD.old

STEP 2: Restart Outlook 2007

1. Send yourself some test emails and let me know what happens.
