Outlook opens word instance

recently I've started getting problems. when I open Outlook 2007, It
automatically opens an instance of word.. the reason I say its an instance of
word is 'cos I see the "W" on the left Corner of the window frame. every time
I try to read a mail, it opens another instance.. sometimes it goes away
sometimes it stays.. But I can see atleast 2 word instances in my window.. If
I close them, Outlook closes.

I get the same problems on one computer, but not on another. It is really a
pain. the word instance opens and covers over outlook and just creates a lot
of problems. Anyone know how to fix this?

I have to chime in and say I'm having the same issue on several machines,
but not all of them. I was suspecting maybe a video problem, but it was
just a guess. My other thought is that some other app is interfering. I was
also having this problem in Outlook 2003 in some but not all installs. I
would get rid of it by turning off Word as email editor, but this can't be
done in 2007.

I have one person that has this happen to him in Microsoft Word 2003 as
well.
