Thank you: can you tell me how to shut down correctly. I usually do so by
clicking on the "X" button at the top right of the screen. I think the
problem has do do with a loss of functionality with the Customer Contact
database which is no longer accessible possibly due to changes to the SQL
settings.
Seems quite a few things can hang the Outlook shutdown.
Business Contact Manager faulting could be one of them ( if that's what
you're referring to as Customer Contact Database )
Perhaps go to microsoft.public.outlook.bcm and get that resolved first and
see if the issue continues.
You can see if Outlook is hung after you [x] it and it disappears from both
the screen and the system tray by looking in Task Manager > Processes. (
from where you can manually kill the process )
You may want to "Clean Slate" Outlook and after repair disable/uninstall all
add-ins and if that works. If so add them back one at a time and check for
correct close functionality after each.
Things like TCP and Sync Connections from programs/devices can also stop the
shutdown... but first things first
