Outlook 2003 stopped running

Using Outlook 2003; Windows XP....

When I open Outlook, it tries to Send\receive.....I can see its connecting
and attempting to secure new meesages but it finally times out not bringing
in any new messages. I used Scanpst on my pst file, the 8 processes ran...it
showed issues and I ran REPAIR. Repair ran and then it stops with a message
repair Interrupted....and will not continue.

Suggestions?

Via the mail applet in the control panel, I would try creating a new PST
file and set it as the default delivery location. This way you can spend
some time trying to figure out what is up with the other PST file. For
example, too many items per folder or is the size approaching 1.9GB.

Thanks, I had already done that. I am hoping to fix whatever is coruppted in
the pst file so I can convert it over to Outlook 2007. Perhaps others may
have some suggested steps I can follow to repair the file since Scanpst
couldn't finish a Repair.

I thought Outlook 2003 had a much higher capacity than 1.9GB.

If scanpst cannot fix it, and assuming its a 2003 format pst then you are
left with paid for repair utilities
PS There is no conversion from 2003 to 2007 pst's since they both use the
same format (Unicode, by default)

It does, but there are two PST file formats. If you carried over a PST file
from earlier versions, then the file size/count limitations still exist.

As "DL" mentioned Outlook 2007 can work with both flavors of PST file. The
PST file that is failing a repair, is this a Unicode or Legacy PST file?

Legacy = A PST file that was created in Outlook 97/2002 format.

Denmarfl,
I am having the same trouble with 2007 and also Word 2007. So what ever it
is that is corrupt. Has moved to Word 2007 also.
